CHANGES TO NEWSLETTER DISTRIBUTION

We have made the decision to cease publishing hard copies of the NESA newsletter for the time being.

The newsletter will now be published as an electronic version only and will be sent to all on our mailing list. We will still publish non regular periodic hard copies from time to time for the benefit of members only.

We are also re-working the FEATURES section of the web site. Due to the sheer amount of material this may take some time.

FEPOW - FINAL MEMORIAL

FINAL MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR THE FAR EASTERN POWs

This year the National Ex Services Association  along with the FEPOW community and the Irish Guards singers will be holding what will probably be a final memorial service to all those who died during their captivity or have died since. The special service will be held in Liverpool and will also be for the remembrance of all who fought in the Far Eastern campaign.

Today there are possibly around 300 survivors and we invite them and all members of the FEPOW families to attend.

The Ecumenical Memorial Service will be held at Christ the King RC church, 78 Queens Drive, Childwal, Liverpool, L15 6YQ.

We are asking for all newspaper and magazine editors to put this date in their diary and give as much publicity as possible in the meantime to make our last memorial service a true and worthy dedication to those who gave their all.

FALKLANDS CAMPAIGN SERVICE

NEW BOOK RELEASE

At the end of the Second World War, investigators were sent to the Far East in search of the war criminals who had committed so many vile atrocities.

The leading British investigator was Colonel Cyril Wild, the son of the Bishop of Newcastle. For all his sterling work his only reward a miserable death. Many former

Far East prisoners of war were and still are of the opinion that Colonel Wild was executed on the orders of General MacArthur.

ACCIDENT or ASSASSINATION provides the questions that still need answering.

WOOTTON BASSETT

WOOTTON BASSETT COUNCIL MADE THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT TO NESA

In the light of recent news stories, Wootton Bassett Town Council wishes to make it clear that it is opposed to any form of political march, protest or demonstration by any individual, group, organisation or party through the town if the subject of such an event has any reference to the conflicts in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Mayor of Wootton Bassett, Steve Bucknell, said “Wootton Bassett has, unwittingly, found itself in the media spotlight for the way it acts as a focal point for paying respects to fallen armed forces personnel. The people who attend the repatriations no doubt have a wide range of views about the conflicts, but those views are not voiced in our High Street, out of respect to those who have lost their lives and those who grieve for them.”

To date, the Town Council has not been consulted and is not aware of any request having been made to Wiltshire Police to hold a march.

Steve Bucknell is also seeking the co-operation of the press and media: "As we pay our respects again at a repatriation tomorrow, Tuesday 5th January, we would request that the media and press journalists refrain from asking any further questions of a political nature."

A BLURRING OF THE LINES

More and more we see a blurring of the lines, in culture, education, history, tradition, morals, justice, common sense and age old British values. More and more we give way and give more. How can we expect to tolerate a blurring of the last line of respect for young men and women of OUR country, a line which should belong to those who have fallen.

Keep the streets of Wootton Bassett clean of blurred lines, keep the streets of Wootton Bassett for OUR fallen children.

NESA PETITION TO WOOTTON BASSETT COUNCIL

On behalf of the National Ex Services Association at www.nesa.org.uk I would like to petition Wootton Bassett Town Council to object to the march planned by the Muslim led anti war campaigners. To allow the march seems to us to be tandamount to allowing incitement of hatred and anger among those already troubled by certain situations within Britain today. Allowing the march to go ahead would also give these people and their organisations (whose alterior agenda is spelt out with accompanying literature according to the nature of their common aim) to gain and win a principle gauge by which to hold similar and/or greater marches in the future. Yours sincerely R.Ayres Acting Secretary NESA
